What is AGESA-BOOT-FAILURE?
AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture (AGESA) is the foundational firmware layer that initializes AMD processor platforms. An AGESA initialization failure means the CPU, memory controller, or PCIe fabric initialization failed before the BIOS environment was fully established. This causes no-POST situations with debug LED codes.
Common Causes
- CPU not supported by current AGESA version
- Incompatible RAM speed or timing
- Corrupted BIOS flash
Step-by-Step Fix Guide
-
1
Flash BIOS to latest AGESA version
AMD regularly releases new AGESA versions that expand CPU support and fix initialization bugs. New Ryzen generations require AGESA updates.
-
2
Install supported CPU for BIOS update (then update and swap)
If the CPU is not supported at all, use a supported CPU to flash the BIOS first.
-
3
Clear CMOS and try booting with one stick of supported RAM
